this is so far my favourite place in sweden. torö stenstrand. this is also the place where the bear goes surfing late fall/winter (now)…dedicated surfer! here we spend some of the summer with family, camping by the beach, cooking out door, late night talks, relaxing and quietness all in one. it’s good for my soul to visit stenstrand. we camped outside and during the night i was sure i saw a moose. probably a dream but then the next day we saw a mama moose and her twin baby calves. on the picture you can only see a tiny bit of the second baby. my first time actually seeing a moose and then with calves. it was an amazing summer let me tell you.
this summer we had a staycation in the surroundings of stockholm when my mom and dad came to visit. we’ve been swimming like crazy. found this spot in lillsved where you could cliff jump….my dad and i took the stairs, the bear didn’t (of course). on the way there we had a pit stop at siggesta gård and it was so lovely inside, would like to go there for christmas time when it’s cold outside and you can cozy up in front of the fireplace. consumed a few ost mackar (cheese sandwich) in the shadow of the apple trees at vintervikens trädgård, remember i wrote about their farmers market here. also visited king karl gustaf and queen silvia at their summer house. found this really cute cafe ankarudden brygge at torö where we had chocolate cake and fruit pie…so good. avocado and bread after a swim near lövhagen. will say we’ve seen our fair share of this part of sweden this year and it was oh so great. went kayaking from lövhagen on another trip…but thats for another time.
vintervikens trädgård is a really cute trädgård where they serve food from their gardens and you can sit under the apple trees and enjoy a cup of coffee and cake. on sundays they have farmers market where you can buy eco, local grown veggies and fruit, bread, honey, juice and jam. really love this place. a must for me is their christmas market 7-8 december.

my favorite supermarket in the us has to be whole foods and i guess they have it all…duck eggs and ostrich eggs comin right up. outdoor movie night at bryant park…watched count of monte cristo with a daffy duck start. a trip to the amazing american museum of natural history. a picture of my favorite breakfast spot marlow & sons the biscuit with scrambled egg and cheese and their frittata are my faves and next door diner for lovely dinners. wanna go cross-country in this one. babycakes and their amazing vegan cupcakes. east village radio and their humble radio studio, have been listening to chances with wolves for years and years. yogi by heart. self portrait. 401 where the bear used to work and a brooklyn bridge foto from dumbo. somewhere on my way to red hook. washington square park and a little summer cooling. moved to buswick at one point, loved hanging out at roberta’s. a picture of me and my mom.
what a summer. feels like fall has arrived with it’s cooler air and i’m ready throwing on layers and layers. a lot of summer-trips have happened and way to little time to blog about it, but here comes some pictures from when we went to gröna lund, swedens oldest amusement parks from around 1883. took the boat from söder out there which is quit lovely. tried the eclipse which is the one on picture 4 but wasn’t my cup of tea (tried the one in copenhagens tivoli and didn’t enjoy that one either) well well tried and tried and i’m just more of a roller coaster gal.
went to steam for lunch. cheap, clean food and real good is my words. we shared the 12 veggie dumplings with a big bowel of noodle soup and it was plenty of food for us. totally forgot how delicious chinese cabbage is (it was in the noodle soup) and for a while I’ve been wanting to make this kimchi recipe from my new roots. how pretty is the display of the food. really love the simple concept and we almost live next door to the one on söder…pretty lucky i’ll say. the ginger beer was spicy and bubbly and i liked it!
went to our friends wedding at this magical place called tyrolen. the day was sun filled, happy and oh so lovely. what a beautiful way to tie the knot. tyrolen is an old folkpark build in the 60’s (clear evidence of that) but already in the 70’s the place had to close it’s doors. fast forward to 2006 where a couple of guys and a girl bought the place renovated it in the spirit of back in the days and opened this place up again for people to enjoy. want to come back next year for muskelrock or the tyrolens rythm’n’blues fest. the guy on the bike is one of the owners. a time warp in the best of ways!
